Formerly Managing Director of the company which owned the Herald and Evening Times Iain brings considerable experience of public / private collaborations having been nine years Chair of the Glasgow Education/Business Partnership followed by three years chairing the Glasgow Childcare Partnership. Having trained and worked in human resources Iain moved to general management where he retained his keen interest in people and, in particular their development. He views his role as promoting the use of mentoring as a key support to help people in Scotland achieve their potential and in particular those who experience disadvantage. Iain believes in using and sharing not just the wealth of experience and knowledge which currently exists within members in Scotland but also the growing body of evaluated evidence to influence policies of the Scottish Government, Local Authorities, National Agencies and Funders.
For the last four years Iain has been a Director of the Association of Chief Officers in Scotland (ACOSVO).
Outside work Iain has been on the Executive Committee of the Variety Club Children's Charity in Scotland for over 25 years and Chair on two occasions and twice President of Partick Bowling Club as well as Treasurer for the last 14 years. He is a keen sports fan and plays bowls (reasonably) and golf (badly)!
