SMN National Networking Event 2015

Our Annual National Networking Event & Recognition Awards ceremony was held at St Paul’s & St George’s Church in Edinburgh on Wednesday 4th November 2015. The event was very well attended with members from all over Scotland, from over fifty organisations, participating.

The day opened with a welcome from SMN Chair, Jacqueline Thomas, followed by a presentation of the findings from SMN’s latest ‘Mentoring Works’ report by Sarah Barr. This was followed by showcase presentations on the Impact of Mentoring from SMN member projects, The Wise Group, Edinburgh Napier University Employer Mentoring Project and YMCA Plusone Mentoring.

We are delighted to announce that this years’ SMN Mentoring Project of the Year Award 2015 was presented to Move On.

  • Disability & Health Project of the Year Award 2015 – Ayrshire College Peer Mentoring
  • Employment Project of the Year Award 2015 – University of the West of Scotland Employer Mentoring Programme
  • Justice Project of the Year Award 2015 – Joint Winner: The Wise Group & West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership
  • Professional Development Project of the Year Award 2015 – Cross Organisational Mentoring Initiative
  • The Partnership Award 2015 – YMCA Scotland Plusone Mentoring
  • Social Care Project of the Year Award 2015 – Move On
  • Youth Project of the Year Award 2015 – DAY1 Mentoring
  • Employee Special Recognition Awards – Charles Martin (The Wise Group); Corrin Henderson (DAY1) & Mike Kerracher (YMCA Edinburgh)
  • Exceptional Contribution Award 2015 – Ronnie Reardon, West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership

Projects which have achieved the SMN Project Quality Award in the past year and highly commented mentors and staff members were also presented with their certificates. A full report on the event and winners will be available to download from our website in due course.

After the first round of awards were presented, Thematic Round Table Discussions on the Impact of Mentoring, facilitated by representatives of award winning projects and SMN Directors, took place. These discussions were followed by a networking lunch then a workshop session, where five workshops were on offer.

The day closed with the presentation of the Quality Award Certificates, Exceptional Contribution to Mentoring Award and Project of the Year Award, which went to Move On.
