Action For Children helps the most vulnerable children and young people in the UK break through injustice, deprivation and inequality so they can achieve their full potential.

The Priority Families Service adopts a whole family approach to supporting and enabling families with multiple and complex needs to improve their outcomes. There are children / young people in Aberdeen who are experiencing difficulties which have a negative impact on their learning, confidence and social skills. The benefit of the mentoring service positively affects the individual child, their family life, their school academic life, the relationships with their friends and the life of the volunteer Mentor.

The Mentoring service aims to support a child/young person to develop their inner resources and strengths, build their confidence, self-esteem and find positive alternatives to their challenging behaviour that could otherwise result in them not reaching their full potential. This helps the child / young person experience greater degrees of self-confidence, emotional growth and trust, giving them a greater capacity to form and maintain positive relationships with others. Opportunities to enhance their current skills and abilities lead to feelings of higher achievement and the capacity to make use of their own personal resources.
