CBI backs bid to boost Scotland's export base, CBI Scotland has welcomed a Scottish Government initiative aimed at boosting Scotland's export base through enhanced business support.

The moves aim to boost the number of Scottish companies exporting, with the current situation being that just 70 countries are responsible for half of Scotland's exports.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon outlined plans for peer-to-peer mentoring to support the next wave of Scottish exports at event in Edinburgh

The event brought together more than 100 firms to discuss exporting best practice, access to finance and professional services support for budding exporters.

Speaking at the event the First Minister said: “Growing our export market is central to Scotland’s trading potential and the Scottish Government are doing everything in our power to see even more Scottish products and services in even more markets.
