The £2 million Children, Young People and Families and Adult Learning and Empowering Communities Project Fund (CYFEIF and ALEC Fund) are now open to applications.
The Scottish Government has made project funding available to the third sector to support preventative work with children, young people and families.
The project fund covers two years from April 2017 to March 2019 and will focus on projects that:
- Promote parenting and family skills
- Contribute to reducing the educational attainment gap
- Improve life chances for looked after children
- Improve the safety of children and young people
Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland is working in partnership with the Scottish Government to administer and manage the Scottish Government’s CYPFEI and ALEC Funds. 21 July

SCVO is looking for evidence from charities, voluntary groups and social enterprises about how they benefit from local funding (from authorities or public bodies). This will help SCVO to ensure that funding practices are improved across Scotland.

WEvolution is recruiting two new Self-Reliant Group Coordinators, one based in Glasgow and one covering Dundee.
Applicants should have a vivacious personality with both the gift and experience of drawing people to a cause.
The role will involve taking charge in the target area (Glasgow & surrounding area / Dundee & surrounding area) working full-time (35 hours a week) to inspire people to come together in self-reliant groups (SRGs).
Candidates should care deeply about people, especially women, and trust their resourcefulness and ability to help themselves and each other. A valid driving license is required.

YMCA Edinburgh is currently recruiting volunteer mentors for its Plusone Mentoring Programme. Plusone engages with young people at a critical time in their life so if you are passionate about seeing people achieve, Plusone would love to hear from you.
Plusone is looking for individuals with a passion to see young people succeed in life who can give two to three hours of their time each week as a volunteer mentor.
Plusone mentors will be trained and supported to mentor a vulnerable young person aged 8-14 at risk of entering the criminal justice system. Mentors regularly meet with a young person to take part in activities, offer a friendly ear and give support on making positive life choices. Volunteers receive full training, support and expenses.

The British Red Cross is inviting nominations for its 12th annual Humanitarian Awards to celebrate extraordinary young people.
There are four different categories:
- Fundraising: know someone who has shaved their head or run a marathon for charity?
- First aid: know a young person who has put someone in the recovery position or helped treat a broken bone?
- Community action: has anyone gone out of their way to help your local community?
- Volunteering: do you know anyone who helps the homeless or who cares for older or vulnerable people?
There are awards for each individual category plus an overall award.
Nominations are open to both individuals and groups of young people who can be seen to be making a difference.
Short-listed nominees will be invited to the awards ceremony which takes place in the House of Commons in the Palace of Westminster. Winners will receive a fantastic prize kindly offered from the event sponsors Canon. 19 July

Join the Scottish Government and Inspiring Scotland on Thursday the 28th of July for the launch of intandem, the national mentoring programme for children and young people aged between 8 and 14 years funded by the Scottish Government.
