SMN: Scottish Parliament Invite

Scottish Mentoring Network’s Iain Forbes has been having discussions with the Scottish Parliament’s Outreach Services who are keen to hear from a cross section of organisations in Scotland. Iain told them about them about the fantastic work being done by SMN members in improving outcomes for a wide range of service users. 21 February

Funding: Aspiring Communities Fund now open for applications

The Scottish Government's Aspiring Communities Fund is now accepting applications and may be of interest to some of our members, especially those working in the more deprived communities in Scotland or who are trying to make a lasting difference in community engagement and inclusion.   20 February

Homeless Action Scotland: Scotland's Mental Health First Aid - Young People

Homeless Action Scotland is running a number of 'Mental Health First Aid' training courses aimed at adults working or living with young people aged between 11 and 18 years old who may be at risk of developing mental health problems.   20 February

New research by MCR Pathways has revealed that more than 80 per cent of the young people involved in its Young Glasgow Talent project are in further education or employment.   20 February

A new project with the aim of tackling gender imbalance in Scotland's digital technology sector has been initiated by Skills Development Scotland (SDS). 13 February

Funding: Big Lottery Improving Lives Grants

Big Lottery Fund Scotland's latest blog post is tackling some common misconceptions around who can apply for its 'Improving Lives' grants programme.   13 February

News: Scotland's First Minister to become a mentor

Scotland's First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, has launched a Young Scot competition to find an aspiring young woman, aged between 18 and 23, to mentor for a one year period.  7 February

Member News: Move On recruiting volunteer mentors

Move On is recruiting volunteer mentors for its new intandem mentoring project for 8 to 14 year olds who are looked after at home in East Lothian.   7 February

Member News: Action for M.E. seeking mentees

Having recruited mentors for its new peer mentor project in Scotland, Action for M.E. is now looking for people living with M.E. who would like to receive peer mentoring support from others who have experience of living with the illness.   3 February

Member News: Y Sort-It recruiting volunteer mentors

Y Sort-It is recruiting volunteer mentors for its intandem funded project for children ages 8 to 14 who are looked after at home.   3 February

Member News: New Rock Trust project recruiting peer mentors

Rock Trust is piloting an exciting new project in West Lothian that will match care experienced young people with mentors who have had similar life experiences. 3 February
