SMN: Promoting Effective Mentoring in Scotland

Scottish Mentoring Network is gathering evidence to demonstrate the impact of mentoring in Scotland. The aim is to produce a publication which can we used both for the benefit of members in discussions with policy makers, funders and other stakeholders and by SMN nationally in promoting the effective use of mentoring. 31 May

SMN: A warm welcome to our newest members

In the past month we have welcomed three new projects to our membership: Children 1st intandem mentoring; CVS Falkirk and Circle Inter School Social Education Project.  We encourage anyone interested in these projects to utilise our ‘Mentoring Map’ to find out a bit more about these member projects; the details of the lead contact for any mentoring activities within a project is shown on each profile. 30 May

Resource: Shine Annual Report Launched

The annual report for Shine Women's Mentoring Service was launched at the programme's Board meeting in Edinburgh this week.  The report looks at how the service has grown since it was first established in 2013 and highlights the successes and key challenges faced over the past year.   30 May

MCR Pathways is recruiting a Mentor Services Co-ordinator & Volunteer Services Manager to join its expanding mentoring programmes.   28 May

Funding for offender mentoring services

The Scottish Government has announced funding of £3.4 million to be shared between four mentoring services working to reduce reoffending. 22 May

Funding: #YOYP2018 Events

A new funding programme, Create18, has been launched to give young people across Scotland the opportunity to create and host innovative events in their community as part of the Year of Young People 2018.   22 May

News: Scottish Parliament Apprenticeship Programme Launched

The Scottish Parliament has launched it 2017 apprenticeship programme, open to young people aged 16-24 and starting in August or September.   16 May

Member News: intandem East Dunbartonshire Recruiting Volunteer Mentors

Aberlour is recruiting volunteer mentors for its new intandem mentoring project for 8 to 14 year olds who are looked after at home in East Dunbartonshire.   2 May
