SMN National Event & Recognition Awards 2014

SMN’s annual National Event and Recognition Awards 2014 will take place on Thursday 13th November at the Old Sheriff Court in Glasgow. This is the only national conference on mentoring where you have the opportunity to meet representatives from an extensive range of projects in Scotland.

The National Event will run from 10am until no later than 4:30pm. The day will begin with a welcome and update from SMN after which our keynote speech will be delivered by Anne-Marie Imafidon, founder of ‘Stemettes’ social enterprise. The keynote speech is followed by two workshop sessions with a networking lunch in between.

Workshops at this years’ event will include the following:

  • Research findings from cross organisational mentoring project, Glasgow Caledonian University
  • Rolling out the Customised Award in Peer Mentoring and Support Training, Glasgow Mentoring Network & Tayside Council on Alcohol
  • Intergenerational Mentoring, Project Scotland
  • Peer Mentoring for Looked After and Accommodated Children and Young People, Move On
  • Mentoring Ex-offenders, Apex Scotland
  • Good practice in youth mentoring, Youth Scotland
  • Peer mentoring pilot in schools, Peeblesshire Youth Trust
  • Practical Benefits & Implications of Telephone Mentoring, Visibility

The day will close with the presentation of the SMN Annual Recognition Awards, presented by Maureen McGinn, Chair of Big Lottery Scotland Committee, to winning projects and individual mentors that have made a significant impact over the past year.

All members of Scottish Mentoring Network and Glasgow Mentoring Network are entitled to free places at this event as part of their membership. Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis so please book now to avoid disappointment.

Places for non-members are charged at £25 per person. You will be offered the opportunity to become a member when booking which will automatically give you two free places at the event.
