Free EGuide Training Opportunity for Employability Practitioners & Trained Peer Mentors

6 November 2014

Almost two years ago Light on the Path launched its EGuide Apps Project, taking an electronic guidance tool and adapting it to different countries and situations. Light on the Path is now offering Practitioners working within the employability field a final opportunity to get free training on this exciting innovative tool which will soon be available on tablets and other mobile devices. This opportunity is also on offer to trained Peer Mentors, to learn how to use the tools and try them out with participants.

EGUIDE is a suite of animated, online, user-friendly career guidance tools that are based on good practice in occupational psychology, with a variety of supports to help users make the most of it. The system has the occupational psychology expertise designed into the analysis part of the software, so that anyone with good people skills working in employability support or peer mentoring can use it with their clients to get a quicker, deeper insight into how they work and what they care about.

There are six tools:

  • Interest Explorer: to find out what aspects of work really interest users.
  • Personality Explorer: to see how users work best and in what environment or work situation would suit them best.
  • Four cognitive skills assessments: If participants feel the need to, they can check if they have the aptitude (natural potential) for the skills needed in the job they are interested in. If the assessments show this isn’t an area where they already have natural potential, they can look at similar jobs that use the same interests and working situation but in a different way or see what training could help them develop the skills.

During the course participants will learn:

  • the background and scientific basis behind the development of the tools;
  • how to administer their use;
  • and how to give feedback to clients using the reports produced by the platform.

This training is absolutely free and travel expenses can be reimbursed but only until the end of the project. The course for Employability Practioners will take place in Glasgow over three days on 24th & 25th November and the 1st December 2014.

A second three day course for Peer Mentors will take place in Glasgow on 24th & 25th November and the 3rd December 2014.
