Member news: Day 1 helps young mentee on the road to success
16 Sep Sixteen-year-old Day 1 mentee and winner of modelling competition, Caitlin Stroud has praised Day 1's mentoring programme and her own mentor for helping her get back on track. She has thanked the programme for helping to motivate her and helping her to get into college and to persue her modelling ambitions.
Funding: Comic Relief Local Community Programme
16 Sep The Local Community Programme from Comic Relief is managed by the Scottish Community Foundation and offers grants between 100 and 10,000 pounds per year. The grant programme is currently open for applications.

Consultation on mentoring for unemployed disabled people
15 Sep The Mentoring and Befriending Foundation (MBF) along with Remploy has carried out a consultation with over 120 disabled people and people experiencing complex barriers to work that are looking for employment. The consultation revealed that seventy-eight percent of people asked felt that access to a mentor would be useful when searching for employment opportunities.

09 Sep New Application for Mentor deadline is the 27th of October 2011. The Scottish Book Trust Mentoring Scheme supports established and emergent writers, playwrights, screenwriters and author/illustrators who have a specific project on which they would like some dedicated support. Mentoring creates an intimate, sharing environment in which the mentee grows in confidence and unlocks their potential, allowing them to move forward in their writing careers.
