The SMN annual Recognition Awards are designed to give recognition to mentoring projects that have made a significant impact in their area and are open to members of SMN and GMN.
The awards began in 2010 and have been presented to outstanding projects and individuals each year since. Award applications are invited from members in late Summer / early Autumn. All received applications are then assessed by an awards panel with knowlegde and expertise in mentoring and in the various sectors our members work in. The winners of our Recognition Awards are announced each year as part of our National Networking Event which is usually held in October or November.
Any organisation that is a member of Scottish Mentoring Network / Glasgow Mentoring Network is eligible to apply for the Recognition Awards.
Project of the Year Awards - Awards are categorised based on the various thematic areas that projects work in with awards given to the project that is deemed to be the best in its area. There will also be an award presented to the project that is considered to be the overall ‘Project of the Year’, regardless of the thematic area operating in.
Individual Awards - All projects that submit an application will be given the opportunity to nominate an individual mentor that has made a special contribution over the past year to receive recognition and their own award at the National Event.
Projects will also be given the opportunity to nominate a member of staff who has made an outstanding impact over the previous year.
After the closing date for receipt of award application forms the assessment panel will meet to review all received applications and select the winning projects and individuals.
If the assessment panel has any questions about an application or project applicants may be contacted for further information.
Winners & Presentation of Awards
Once the assessment panel has decided on the winning projects and individuals these are announced at our National Event where the winners are presented with a trophy and certificate in recognition of their award. We ask that any project that submits an application send at least one delegate to the National Event to accept any awards as the winners are not announced in advance of the event.
Details of previous award winners can be found on the award pages for each year.
