Melanie is a skilled and multi-faceted practitioner within the fields of Organisational Development/Human Resources and Coaching and Mentoring. Her experience in the private sector has been as a field trainer for Laura Ashley Ltd, coaching management trainees on a fast-track leadership programme. This took her in to an L&D role at Robert Gordon University and Staff Development Manager at Aberdeen College. Melanie has an MSc in Human Resource Management from Glasgow Caledonian University where she has worked since 2003. She is an ILM qualified coach, coach/mentor supervisor and in a private capacity a person-centred counsellor. Currently she leads on several mentoring pools at GCU: experienced teachers supporting new lecturers, staff on a women’s leadership programme called Aurora and managers on an in-house transformational leadership programme. Melanie also has a great interest in wellbeing and resilience and held lead responsibility for maintaining the Gold Healthy Working Lives Award at GCU during 2014 – 2018. In her personal time Melanie is a Senior Authorised Facilitator for the Bridge Pastoral Foundation, a member of The Armstrong Clan Association and leads a local volunteer group developing a community garden. Melanie enjoys the theatre, music and in particular Queen, walking her Border Terrier Laddie, flower-arranging and reading crime fiction.
