Professional Practice Award in Mentoring

We are pleased to announce that for the first time we will be running our Professional Practice Award in Mentoring as an open course. This will give individuals who are currently in a mentoring role or soon will be undertaking a mentoring role to access this training. Likewise it will enable mentoring projects to access this training for a smaller number of mentors than what we require to run the course in-house.

This is a 3-day course for mentors, or those about to take on a mentoring role. The course will develop and enhance their knowledge and understanding of mentoring and to develop practical mentoring skills essential to providing quality mentoring support. In order to generate the required evidence for the PPAM candidates must be currently or about to start mentoring a mentee. Candidates should be able to work at SCQF level 7.

The PPAM course  is owned and managed by Scottish Mentoring Network (SMN) and credit rated by Edinburgh Napier University. The PPAM sits on the Scottish Credit & Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at SCQF level 7and has 20 SCQF credits.

The PPAM is made up of two units.

Unit 1: Mentoring Theory into Practice (2 days)

Unit 2: Professional Development in Mentoring Practice (1 day) The date for the third day will be arranged to suit the candidates at the intialtwo days of training.

Cost of the course is: £550 per candidate.

Course fee includes:

  • 3 days training (first two days are consecutive with 3rd arranged for a later date)
  • Skilled, experienced professional trainers
  • Advice, guidance and support to complete assessment tasks
  • Registration and certification by SMN
  • Assessment and verification
  • All course materials

Options: Participants/projects can choose to attend the training only and not do the assessment Participants can choose to complete each of the units separately and receive a certificate for a single unit and achieve 10 SCQF credits.
