ProjectScotland is part of the Volunteering Matters Family of Brands. While we primarily support young people aged 16-30 nationally, some of our projects work with high school aged pupils and those over the age of 30. The individuals we support are likely to have experienced a range of challenges throughout their lives including: homelessness, disability, substance misuse, long term unemployment, offending behaviour, mental health issues and care experience. We also support New Scot Refugees in Edinburgh and Dundee in partnership with The Welcoming Association. Every person we support through our projects is offered a wraparound support service, which includes: a dedicated staff member to help reduce the impact that barriers are having on their lives; a volunteer placement with one of our charity partners; and a volunteer mentor matched to them specifically with their interests, personality, location, aspirations and needs in mind. Mentoring is vital to the support we offer. A 'match' can be face to face, virtual, or a hybrid of the two- usually meeting for one hour a week or a fortnight for up to 12 months. A mentor can be: a sounding board, someone to offer advice, share experience and help the mentee work towards their goals.
