Our project was set up as a partnership between the health and social care team and the inclusive learning team to enhance the learning experience of students with additional support needs. These needs vary and include looked after / care experienced young people, dyslexia, mental health challenges and physical health needs. HNC Social Care students train as Peer Mentors and then volunteer to mentor students who are studying at access levels or above. The aim has always been to enhance attainment and retention of students. This is not an exclusive service and support is also provided for other students in the sector.
