TimeBank is a national volunteering charity that started in 2000. Our vision is to make volunteering part of the fabric of everyday life and a rewarding experience for everyone involved. Our mission is to transform the volunteering experience. Our purpose is to enable outstanding volunteering experiences by utilising people’s skills to tackle social problems. We believe that great volunteering can transform the lives of both volunteers and beneficiaries by building stronger, happier and more inclusive communities.
TimeBank trains mentors to support change through a time-limited, goals based relationship with beneficiaries (mentees). The beneficiaries identify the goals and the mentors act as an enabler rather than a problem-solver, a critical friend, sounding board and hold the beneficiary to account as they work towards those goals.
Shoulder to Shoulder Erskine project is a partnership with the Charity Erskine, which offers one to one volunteer mentor support for ex-service men and women living in the central belt of Scotland, who are recovering from mental health issues or having difficulty adjusting to civilian life – and support for families too.
In 2014 TimeBank received funding from the Forces in Mind Trust and the Henry Smith Charity to deliver a pilot project supporting ex-servicemen, women and family members in Scotland. Now, going into our forth year after a significant amount of project development and delivery in Glasgow and Edinburgh, we believe we are now a respected charity working the area of veterans while maintaining our civilian focus and expertise.
