Go! Youth Trust
About
Go! Youth Trust is a youth work charity based in Central Scotland, set up to deliver innovative approaches to working with young people and families. We want to support these young people with challenges they face which impact their ability to reach their full potential. We work with ages 7 to 25 through different programmes including after school clubs, youth drop-ins; residentials and employability programmes.
As well as these opportunities for mentoring, our main coaching programme is called Sparks 121 for young people aged 8-14. It is a 1-2-1 intervention programme based in primary schools, secondary schools and in the community. We train volunteers to work for an hour a week with a young person who is struggling emotionally or behaviourally, discussing emotional literacy resources while doing fun activities that they enjoy. We have seen such a huge impact already, having coached 95 young people with 32 referrals waiting as schools see the value of this free service. We would like to expand the programme in the future by organising outdoor activity residentials specifically for Sparks 121; and developing a branch from Sparks 121 that targets high tariff young people that can't cope with the structured session.
