Turning Point Scotland
About
We are aware that Transitions within people's lives are often the most stressful times. The Mentoring programme will include training and support to Mentors to support service users to transition into FHOSS, within FHOSS and transition out of FHOSS. The service will be co-ordinated by one Volunteer Co-ordinator in the North West and one Volunteer Co-ordinator in the South. The mentors will work closely with Support Practitioners to transition service users into FHOSS by being involved in aspects of the service where people are coming in, working with or exiting the service. During this process service user will be asked whether they would like to work with a mentor. Service user can be asked at IV if this is something they would be interested in and date set for mentor and mentee to meet. If someone declines at this point this can be revisited at each support review Mentors will also facilitate the completion of service user satisfaction surveys We are not delivering a service to service users, Mentors are engaging with individuals to assist them to recognise the goals they want to achieve within a citizenship approach. Our Mentoring programme will include a full certificated training package for Mentors delivering mentoring services to service users (Mentee's), Mentors will work closely with service users to assist them to transition into FHOSS, within FHOSS and out of FHOSS. Mentors will work with Mentees to create goals Using a citizenship approach. These goals can be specific to community engagement through identifying areas of interest alongside the support practitioner. The support practitioner along with the Volunteer coordinator will support this process, coordinating plans and feeding back to mentor/ mentee. The Mentoring process promotes "shared experiential learning". MISSION STATEMENT Our mission is to provide a welcoming, supportive and productive opportunity for individuals experiencing homelessness. As part of the Flexible Homelessness Outreach Support Service (FHOSS) our Volunteer Mentors will create equal and inclusive opportunities for individuals to achieve positive outcomes through helping to build networks within their local communities and developing personal resourcefulness. VALUE STATEMENT Through encompassing the lived experiences of our volunteers, FHOSS mentoring will embrace the values of respect, dignity, empathy and inclusion and hold central to our practice, is promotion of equality, diversity and Anti-discrimination.
