WISE Mentoring CIC provides school-based mentoring programmes for children aged 9-11 in North East Glasgow, with a focus on wellbeing, character growth, and Positive Youth Development. Developed alongside PhD research, our core programme combines one-to-one mentoring, small-group activities, and a structured Character & Wellbeing curriculum informed by evidence from character education, youth mentoring, social-emotional learning, and the psychological framework of Positive Youth Development.

Children are matched with trained volunteer mentors, most of whom are university students, for a full academic year. Weekly sessions blend individual support with peer connection and group belonging, helping children build confidence, self-understanding, resilience, self-regulation, cognitive skills, social skills, and the ability to apply character strengths in everyday life.

WISE is also keen to share learning, resources, guidance, and programme models with other organisations across the mentoring sector, particularly around character-focused mentoring, mentor training, school-based delivery, blended mentoring, and evaluation.
