NEWS: An exciting opportunity for Edinburgh based Third-Sector organisations

There is a new opportunity to offer young people work placements in Edinburgh! Please see the news story below from The City of Edinburgh Council for all the details:

An exciting opportunity for Edinburgh based Third-Sector organisations…

Through Scottish Government’s Young Person’s Guarantee funding, we are looking for Third-Sector employers to offer work placements for young people aged 16 – 24 years. There is no cost to your organisation, and we are looking for entry level posts suitable for young people to gain essential skills for future employment.

The young people will be paid at Scottish Local Government Living Wage rate of £9.34 per hour, which will be paid monthly by The City of Edinburgh Council.  Placements can be between 16 and 30 hours per week and will last for 26 weeks.

To find out more please contact Claire Bee at Claire.bee@edinburgh.gov.uk or call 07935 009 924 by 20 September.  We look forward to hearing from you!

  • Participants will be ‘employed’ by the Council and will receive £9.34 per hour and start dates are likely to be in September/ October.
  • Placements must be supported by a nominated staff member (mentor) who, in turn, will be supported by a named officer from Business Growth and Inclusion (BG&I).
  • You will be responsible for induction and day-to-day management of the participant.
  • Progress will be reviewed regularly with participant and mentor and can be stopped if not working out.

However, if the placement is successful, additional funding may be available after the 26 week period.  Your BG&I Officer will help you to investigate this.
