SMN NEWS: We are looking for trustees!
20 December 2023
We are delighted to say that we have vacancies to join our board to help with the governance and strategic direction of Scottish Mentoring Network. We are particularly interested in applications from members and non-members with particular knowledge/expertise in any of the following areas:
- Financial management and/or accounting
- Developing corporate partnerships
We welcome applications from all candidates who believe they will help bring fresh perspectives to our discussions and ensure we understand and meet the needs of the diverse mentoring communities we serve. We will provide support to resolve access requirements to ensure candidates can apply and undertake their responsibilities if appointed.
We are guided by the Third Sector Governance Forum Governance Code.
Equality and inclusion
The Code recognises that all third-sector organisations should follow practices that fully recognise diversity in all its forms (for example, diversity of background, thought and experience, as well as the protected characteristics defined by the Equality Act 2010). This is a vital part of good governance and underpins the five core principles. Diversity is essential for boards to be effective and informed, and to make better decisions.
SMN fully supports a hybrid approach, so Directors can join the SMN Board meetings via digital technology, usually Zoom.
"I have developed a far greater knowledge of mentoring provision for different groups in society than I could have imagined, [and] I have felt part of a totally committed and passionate group of people who give a lot of themselves as Board Members to the cause of mentoring in Scotland." - Board Member Melanie Armstrong
If you are interested in applying for this role, please email our CEO, Maureen Watson: email@example.com with the completed application form and your CV by midday on Friday 26th January 2024.
