SMN NEWS: We are looking for a Treasurer

13 June 2024

We are recruiting for trustee poster with image of a megaphone on a blue and white background.

We have vacancy for an SMN member with financial management and/or accounting skills who would be willing to take on the office bearer role of Treasurer. The role description is available for download below.

We welcome applications from all candidates who believe they will help bring fresh perspectives to our discussions and ensure we understand and meet the needs of the diverse mentoring communities we serve. We will provide support to resolve access requirements to ensure candidates can apply and undertake their responsibilities if appointed.

We are guided by the Third Sector Governance Forum Governance Code.

Equality and inclusion

The Code recognises that all third-sector organisations should follow practices that fully recognise diversity in all its forms (for example, diversity of background, thought and experience, as well as the protected characteristics defined by the Equality Act 2010). This is a vital part of good governance and underpins the five core principles. Diversity is essential for boards to be effective and informed, and to make better decisions.

SMN fully supports a hybrid approach, so Directors can join the SMN Board meetings via digital technology, usually Zoom.

"I have developed a far greater knowledge of mentoring provision for different groups in society than I could have imagined, [and] I have felt part of a totally committed and passionate group of people who give a lot of themselves as Board Members to the cause of mentoring in Scotland." - Board Member Melanie Armstrong

If you are interested in applying for this role, please send your completed application form and CV to our Chief Executive, Maureen Watson, maureen@scottishmentoringnetwork.co.uk by the closing deadline of 12 noon on Wednesday 17th July 2024.
