We are delighted to say that our member Light Up Learning are recruiting for a Mentor and Team Lead.

The role will be full time and will be hybrid - work will primarily take place in their partner schools (within Edinburgh or the surrounding area) with admin tasks carried out at home if preferred by candidate.

Light Up Learning (LUL) is a registered Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation providing one-to-one mentoring for high school students to help them ignite a love for learning.

LUL is in an exciting growth phase and we are looking to recruit for a new role in the team, who will support our work in our existing schools and our expansion into new locations. Reporting to The Head of Operations and Mentoring, the role is divided into two parts, mentoring (60%) and leadership (40%).

3 days a week, as a mentor, the successful candidate will be tasked with mentoring up to 18 students across our partner schools, facilitating student-led learning by developing activities based around individual student interests and by guiding the young people as they take charge of their own learning through self-directed projects. The remaining 2 days will be dedicated to leadership tasks, including managing a small team of mentors, liaising with our partner schools and supporting with mentor recruitment and training. As this post involves day to day work with young people, you will be required to obtain PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland if successful at interview. We will process this for you: employment will be confirmed after successful completion of this and any other necessary checks, including references.
