MEMBER NEWS: Volunteer Glasgow are urgently fundraising for their Young Persons Befriending Service

Our members, Volunteer Glasgow, support young people across Glasgow through a number of projects. In recent months, they have faced cuts to one of their core services; the Young Persons Befriending Service. We wanted to share their fundraising appeal with our readers:
The Young Persons Befriending Service in West and South West Glasgow has been funded for over 10 years by the local council's Integrated Grants Fund, which will come to a close at the end of March. We've successfully raised 60% of the funding we need, but need more support to ensure that young people will continue to receive these valuable services from April.
All of our young people are facing difficult circumstances, and many have experienced the care system; we know that the Befriending Service hugely improves their self-confidence, their ability to cope with challenges, and how they feel about the future. Volunteer Glasgow is determined to #KeepThePromise of the Care Review and continue active support for our befrienders, our mentors and our young people.
