NEWS: New report: Reducing the Poverty Related Attainment Gap - Evidence Review of Mentoring and Tutoring

A new report was published on National Mentoring Day which examines mentoring and tutoring and the poverty-related attainment gap. The report was written by the Poverty Alliance and comissioned by The Robertson Trust.

The analysis in the report shows that high quality mentoring and tutoring can result in positive educational outcomes for children and young people living in poverty. However, it did identify that there are geographical gaps in the provision and a lack of programmes directly aimed at supporting children living in poverty.

The report concludes that there is much more to be done to increase the availability of free tutoring for children, which has been committed to in England and Wales, but not in Scotland, as part of the recovery from Covid-19.

The report is available from the Resources section of our website, and also at the link below.
