SMN has launched its first campaign, #MentoringWorks. 29 January

On Tuesday 26th of February SMN will hold a Scottish Parliamentary Reception hosted by Sandra White MSP. The reception will celebrate the work of our member projects across Scotland and the success of our current ‘Mentoring Works’ campaign. 29 January

Edinburgh Napier University is looking for more organisations to partner with in delivering their successful Getting Inside programme. The programme offers Social Sciences, Sociology, Psychology and Criminology students the opportunity to spend 4 days with an organisation finding out about different aspects of the work of the organisation and about opportunities to volunteer and work within the organisation in the future. 29 January

The Scottish Government has launched a consultation seeking views on potential changes to Scottish Charity law.
OSCR has proposed areas where the law could perhaps be improved to better serve the public and charities, with a focus on increasing transparency, accountability and trust. 22 January

The Law Society of Scotland has launched an online version of its popular career mentoring scheme with the aim of supporting even more solicitors and students with career development. 21 January

Charities can apply for up to £35,000. The Trust prefers to support medium sized charities (income £200,000 to £5 million) where their grant can make a difference. The trust supports activities in the following categories: Youth Opportunities, General Welfare, Conservation and Preservation. Priority will be given to projects which are open to all members of the community. The Trust also operates a minor grants programme, providing funding of up to £5,000 for local charities with an income below £200,000. Applications can be submitted at any time.

The Trust provides funding to third sector organisations to deliver positive outcomes for the individuals and communities that they work with through three funding strands. Care and Wellbeing seeks to improve people's physical and mental health including: ensuring the best quality of life for Scotland’s vulnerable adults, including those directly or indirectly affected by dementia; improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people affected by mental and/or physical ill health; supporting adults with life limiting, long term health conditions or disability to overcome barriers and remain involved with their communities. Strengthening Communities looks for solutions which address local need including: reducing health and social inequalities in Scotland’s communities; supporting people and communities to find routes out of poverty; empowering communities.

The Henry Smith Charity's Improving Lives programme is part of the Charity's Main Grants programme. It supports people for whom other sources of support are inappropriate or are simply not available. The Charity's three main priorities are; 14 January
