SMN NEWS: Special Awards presented to Lochaber Hope and Tayside Council on Alcohol!
We were delighted to present special awards to Lochaber Hope and Tayside Council on Alcohol at our National Event in October.
Both organisations have consistently held the SMN Quality Award for 10 consecutive years! This is a huge achievement for both organisations and shows a great commitment to quality mentoring practices.

The main activities of Lochaber Hope include: The provision of mentoring, counselling, employability support, personal development, training and a drop-in factility. In terms of mentoring, Lochaber Hope provide mentoring support for clients and mentor training is accredited at SQA Level 4.
In 2016 Lochaber Hope won the SMN Project of the Year Award and Community Project of the Year Award. In 2021 Lochaber Hope received the Queens Award for Voluntary Services
In 2021 Lochaber Hope Launched 'New Connections' a place where people can meet, network and reconnect after lockdown, new activity and support groups have started, small businesses and excellent communication hubs. Lochaber Hope are in addition working in 14 schools providing mentoring and counselling to young people and their families
Tayside Council on Alcohol Arbroath
TCA has been developing and delivering mentoring services for 15 years and can consistently evidence effective engagement and delivery of positive outcomes for women offenders, persistent male offenders and young people. These outcomes include engagement with services, engagement with education and training, moving into employment, improved social skills, engagement with positive leisure activities.
Our mentoring services at the Arbroath office include:
- Support in Recovery (Peer Recovery work)
We also have an office in Perth and Kinross, and our head office in Dundee, each offering a range of mentoring services
Tayside Council on Alcohol Dundee
TCA has been developing and delivering mentoring services for over 15 years and can consistently evidence effective engagement and delivery of positive outcomes for women offenders, male offenders and young people. These outcomes include engagement with services, engagement with education and training, moving into employment, improved social skills, engagement with positive leisure activities.
TCA's Mentoring service has expanded dramatically and now includes:
- Women Only Mentoring (16+yrs) - Mentoring for Men (16+yrs) - Plusone Mentoring (8 -14 yrs) - Link Up Mentoring (8 -19yrs) - OWLS Mentoring for women - Support In Recovery (Peer Mentors) - Beyond Mentoring
