Member News: intandem Argyll & Bute Recruiting Mentors

intandem's mentoring service, delivered by Children 1st, in Argyll and Bute is now recruiting volunteers to mentor young people aged 8-14 who are 'looked after' by their local authority but still living at home.

Volunteer mentors will:

  • Support a child or young person weekly for a minimum of a one year period.
  • Spend time helping their mentee to figure out and value their strengths and talents.
  • Find creative ways to gain new skills and experiences to enable their mentee to meet challenges with confidence and resilience.
  • Plan around what is important to the mentee so they can chart their milestones to success.

Full training will be provided to volunteer mentors with the option of completing the full Children 1st Volunteer Training and Assessment Programme which has been externally credit rated at SCQF level 5.

The closing date for mentor applications is 12 noon on Friday 1 September and application forms can be downloaded from the Children 1st website here.  Any questions can be directed to Volunteer Coordinator Maggie Farrell on 07958 357 188 or by email to Maggie.farrell@children1st.org.uk
